Where is Orihuela Costa?

Orihuela Costa is located on the southern coast of the province of Alicante, in the Vega Baja region, within the area known as the Southern Costa Blanca. It is the beach area of the city of Orihuela, whose urban center is further inland, about 35 kilometers away.

Orihuela Costa borders Torrevieja to the north and Pilar de la Horadada to the south, the southernmost municipality in the province of Alicante.

This rural district of Orihuela has around 20,000 registered inhabitants, although it is estimated that there may be around 45,000, in an area that has 16 kilometers of coastline and where you can find large urbanizations such as La Florida, Playa Flamenca, VillaMartín, Dehesa de Campoamor, Las Mimosas, Horizonte, La Zenia, Las Piscinas, or Villarosa.

To the north, bordering Torrevieja, one of the busiest is Punta Prima Beach, with 6,500 meters of fine sand and a promenade that reaches a breakwater, from where you can enjoy a beautiful view of the coastline.

Next you find Cala Mosca, flanked by two rocky inlets, very close to the curious sundial of the promenade and has a beach area suitable for dogs; Cala Cerrada, protected by a slight cliff or Cala Estaca, also of fine sand and surrounded by bars and beach bars.

Another alternative beach suitable for the whole family, for the tranquility of its waters and fine sand are Cala Bosque, in La Zenia, and Cala Capitán, in Cabo Roig. In Cabo Roig you will find the Caleta Beach, a natural beach of golden sand with 6,000 meters of surface, which is located under the urbanized cliffs and is characterized by its Watchtower, of Cultural Interest. About 45 minutes to the north is the airport located in the El Altet district of Elche: Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández Airport, from where many national and international flights arrive. On the other hand, Orihuela Costa is located about 49 kilometers from Alicante capital, where there is a train station that connects with capitals such as Madrid or Barcelona.
