At ESPHOUSES, in addition to helping you find your ideal home, we want to enlighten you about the benefits of living here. Many of our clients are foreigners from northern Europe, who have wanted to leave behind the cold and humid climates of their countries of origin, to enjoy a paradisiacal life here. One of the great attractions of the area, is the wide natural space that you have in all locations. With beaches of supreme quality, there are also many hiking trails on the Costa Blanca. In total there are around 89 hiking trails to discover within the Alicante region. To get a first idea of what awaits outdoor enthusiasts like you in Alicante, we have created a small list of highlights: 5 hiking trails not to be missed Moncayo This huge mountain acts as a physical and climatic barrier between the two towns of Dénia and Jávea / Xàbia. On the east side, the Montgó ends at Cap San Antonio before plunging into the Mediterranean. In and around the Montgó there are numerous hikes of varying difficulty. The route I describe here is long and to complete it all in one day it would have to be moved from the end (Jesús Pobre side) to the exit in Dénia. Les Cases de Bèrnia It is accessed from Benissa or Jalón / Xaló by the CV-749 road. This 8.1 km long circuit around the Sierra de Bèrnia is a much appreciated and well documented route. Aside from a steep climb from the Font de Bèrnia (water source), most of this trail is fairly flat and easy. This is a great hike with much to see, but surely the highlight is the experience of entering the 26-meter long Forat de Bèrnia (natural tunnel) on the north side and emerging on the south side of the mountain. The views, as well as the dramatic change in flora, are stupendous. Serra Olta Very close to Calpe / Calp is this 6.7 km circular trail around the Sierra de Oltà. It is a perfect introduction to the Costa Blanca outdoors and can be walked or cycled at any time of the year. There are magnificent inland and sea views, as well as pine forests along the trail. Cala Blanca to Playa La Barraca Starting from Cala Blanca in Xábia we follow a path from the beach to the top of the cliff. A short walk along the CV742 Xábia to Cap de la Nao takes us to the Creu del Portitxol and a track down to Cala Sardinera. Follow the contour of the cape to Cap Marti. An optional run takes us to the end of the cape at Cap Prim. Continuing our walk we pass Playa del Portixol with beautiful views of Portitxol Island. A rough path leads to Playa la Barraca where we have lunch at a small restaurant on the beach. Our return to Cala Blanca is by alternative paths. Duration includes lunch. Easy hike. Serra Gelada At an altitude of 435 meters is the Serra Gelada. Fantastic views can be seen at the top of Gelada from secluded coves to the impressive towers of Benidorm. Your hike starts at the Albir beach parking lot with stops at the old ochre mine and the lighthouse. The route to the top can be via an optional scramble or by trail. From the repeater masts the cliff top rail leads to the top of Mundamar. With the right timing, you could see a free show!
