Orihuela Costa is located on the southern coast of the province of Alicante, in the Vega Baja region, within the area known as the Southern Costa Blanca. It is the beach area of the city of Orihuela, whose urban center is further inland, about 35 kilometers away.

Orihuela Costa borders Torrevieja to the north and Pilar de la Horadada to the south, the southernmost municipality in the province of Alicante.

This rural district of Orihuela has around 20,000 registered inhabitants, although it is estimated that there may be around 45,000, in an area that has 16 kilometers of coastline and where you can find large urbanizations such as La Florida, Playa Flamenca, VillaMartín, Dehesa de Campoamor, Las Mimosas, Horizonte, La Zenia, Las Piscinas, or Villarosa.

To the north, bordering Torrevieja, one of the busiest is Punta Prima Beach, with 6,500 meters of fine sand and a promenade that reaches a breakwater, from where you can enjoy a beautiful view of the coastline.

Next you find Cala Mosca, flanked by two rocky inlets, very close to the curious sundial of the promenade and has a beach area suitable for dogs; Cala Cerrada, protected by a slight cliff or Cala Estaca, also of fine sand and surrounded by bars and beach bars.

Another alternative beach suitable for the whole family, for the tranquility of its waters and fine sand are Cala Bosque, in La Zenia, and Cala Capitán, in Cabo Roig. They have an area of 27,000 and 7,000 meters respectively and both have all the services, including accessible beach and amphibious chair for people with mobility problems.

Its amplitude makes them ideal for the practice of sports, in fact in Cala Bosque beach handball championships are disputed. Cala Capitán is also characterized by a small islet called "Isla del Carmen".

In Cabo Roig you will find the Caleta Beach, a natural beach of golden sand with 6,000 meters of surface, which is located under the urbanized cliffs and is characterized by its Watchtower, of Cultural Interest. How to get to Orihuela Costa?


By road

Orihuela Costa is easily accessible from the AP-7 highway, taking exit 763 towards La Zenia/Orihuela Costa or the National Highway N-335 that connects all the coastal towns such as the neighboring Torrevieja or Pilar de la Horadada.


Flights to Orihuela Costa. By plane

About 45 minutes to the north is the airport located in the El Altet district of Elche: Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández Airport, from where many national and international flights arrive. To the south, less than 30 minutes away, is the International Airport Region of Murcia, from where some flights depart to countries such as Belgium, United Kingdom, Morocco, Ireland or the Canary Islands.


By sea

If you arrive by boat, in Orihuela Costa you have the Miguel Caballero Marina, which includes the Campoamor Yacht Club and the Cabo Roig Marina. Both have a total of 558 moorings, for lengths of up to 14 meters and have all the services and activities to enjoy the sea.


By bus

Orihuela Costa can be reached by bus from different nearby towns such as Torrevieja, from where buses depart to different parts of Spain.


By train

The nearest train station is the RENFE train station in Orihuela, which is served by the Cercanías line between Alicante and Murcia. From there, there are city buses that connect with the Orihuela Bus Station.

On the other hand, Orihuela Costa is located about 49 kilometers from Alicante capital, where there is a train station that connects with capitals such as Madrid or Barcelona. From Alicante there are several buses a day to Orihuela Bus Station, and from there there there are city buses that cover all areas of Orihuela Costa.
