According to data from the report of the Spanish Association of Registrars, corresponding to the third quarter of 2020, 1 in every 5 homes sold in Spain has been a single-family home.
This was the first report in which they included studies on the changes in home buying behaviour during the COVID-19 pandemic. To do so, they have analysed, among other data, the proportion between purchases of flats or apartments and purchases of single-family homes (villas, townhouses...)
The data show that 20.4% of the homes sold in Spain in the third quarter of the year were single-family homes. This figure rises to 23.73% in our region, the Valencian Community. The purchase of villas in Spain had never meant 1 out of 5 sales. In the year 2012, these purchases represented only 15%.
Therefore, the preference for buying a single-family home is increasing, usually with a larger average surface area and open spaces such as terraces, solariums and gardens.
