Las dunas naturales se forman a partir de la arena depositada tanto por el río Segura como por el mar, y son arrastradas hacia el interior por los vientos de levante. Este bello escenario natural hace de Guardamar del Segura un lugar sumamente atractivo, además de contar con numerosos rincones con encanto donde se puede observar la flora y fauna local así como multitud de especies de aves que anidan en este ecosistema.

Guardamar de Segura enjoys a typically Mediterranean climate, like most of the Costa Blanca, with cool sea breezes in summer and protection of the surrounding mountains against the cold north winds in winter. The area has an average of almost 3,000 hours of sunshine per year and the average temperature is well over 20 degrees.

In 1986 the World Health Organization (WHO) recommended the climate of the area as one of the most balanced in the world, neither too hot in summer nor too cold in winter. On average, it has 325 sunny days a year, making it an ideal year-round destination.

Blue Flag Beaches

In June they celebrate Bonfires for San Juan. In July they make Moors and Christians around the 25th day of San Jaime. In September are the Campico festivities in honour of the Virgin of Fatima. In October they commemorate the Virgin of the Rosary. It is a very lively society.

It arrives in less than 20 minutes to capital cities such as Alicante, Elche or Torrevieja thanks to its renewed and excellent road network, which functionally communicates all localities.
